Starting Strong: School Bag and Supply Giveaway with Troutman Pepper Locke for 2025-2026 School Year

Lawyers for Learning was proud to once again partner with Troutman Pepper Locke to support Rochester students with a school-supply giveaway. 
On September 25, 2025, during Henry Hudson School #28’s open house, volunteers from Lawyers for Learning and Troutman Pepper Locke joined forces to distribute school supplies to students.

Thanks to Troutman Pepper Locke’s generous sponsorship, each student at School #28 received a brand-new school bag filled with essential supplies to help set students up for success for the 2025-2026 school year.
We are grateful to Troutman Pepper Locke for their continued commitment to Rochester students and for making this event possible! Here's to a great school year! 




32nd Annual Lawyers for Learning Golf Tournament

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 32nd Annual Lawyers for Learning Golf Tournament at Irondequoit Country Club! We were thrilled to welcome a sold-out crowd for a beautiful day of golf, camaraderie, and community—all in support of public education at RCSD School #28/Henry Hudson School. Thanks to the generosity of our participants and sponsors, the proceeds from this event will help fund educational field trips, enriching learning experiences, classroom supplies, and other support for students and school staff.

As a special highlight of the event, Lawyers for Learning was pleased to bring School #28 students out for golf lessons and to spend time on the beautiful course. We hope it sparked students' interest in this great sport! 

A heartfelt thank you goes to our incredible volunteers and the golf tournament planning committee, led by Kevin Connell, for their tremendous efforts in making this event a success. Your commitment helps ensure that the Lawyers for Learning program continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local students. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

 

  


Beauty & the Beast Junior at Henry Hudson School #28!

Lawyers for Learning was proud to help sponsor Henry Hudson School #28's performance of Beauty and the Beast Jr.! The performance was presented by the After-School Theatre Group and took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, featuring an all-student cast. The show was thoroughly enjoyed by students and family/friend spectators alike!




Lawyers for Learning 2024 Holiday Event

Lawyers for Learning was pleased to host a holiday event at School 28 on December 17, 2024. The event featured a brass quintet concert by students from the Eastman School of Music, including Kirk Morrison (trumpet), Aidan Fueller (trombone), Lea Helsel (horn), Logan Wadley (tuba). LFL's own Kevin Connell also played trumpet in the quintet! The event also included an appearance by Santa and cookie painting with cookies supplied by Petit Picasso Cookie in Rochester, New York. Students had so much fun!

 

July 3, 2024: Lawyers for Learning Annual Golf Tournament

Lawyers for Learning once again had a stellar turn out for its annual fundraiser golf tournament. Students were invited to attend the tournament and participate in a First Tee clinic, where they received hands-on golf lessons. Thank you enormously to all sponsors, attendees, and volunteers! 
 

May-June 2024

Lawyers for Learning sponsored numerous trips and experiences via its classroom grant program, including with the Rochester Museum and Science Center, Lollipop Farm, and Seneca Park Zoo. 
 

March 12 & 13, 2024: Field Trips to Lamberton Conservatory

Lawyers for Learning was pleased to fund multiple field trips to Lamberton Conservatory, located in Highland Park, where students could view and learn about botanical exhibits. 

January - February 2024

Lawyers for Learning sponsored three field trips/experiences with the Rochester Museum and Science Center, which included presentations on rotation and revolution in the solar system, the nature of matter, and light and color. 
 

December 2023: Holiday Event

Lawyers for Learning continued its tradition of helping students celebrate the holiday season with a special brass quartet presentation by students from the Eastman School of Music (and LFL Treasurer, Kevin Connell), cookie decorating, and a visit from Santa and the Grinch. 

 
 

November 2023

Lawyers for Learning was thrilled to provide funding for uniforms for the first-ever basketball team at School 29! While they were not the champions, this co-ed student basketball team played amazingly! 
 

October 25, 2023: LFL First Tee Event

Lawyers for Learning was pleased to once again sponsor a field trip for students to the Genesee Valley golf course for hands-on golf lessons with First Tee of Western New York! 

 

October 2023: Halloween Event

Lawyers for Learning sponsored a special event for the students in School 29 in which students decorated mini pumpkins to help get into the Halloween “spirit.” Students loved this activity! 
 

Back-to-School 2023: Backpack & Supply Drive with Troutman Pepper

Lawyers for Learning was thrilled to partner once again with Troutman Pepper for a backpack and supply driver to kick off the 2023-2024 school year. Thanks to Troutman Pepper’s generous support, volunteers for Lawyers for Learning and Troutman Pepper were able to distribute backpacks filled with a year’s worth of supplies to each student in School 29 and provide supplies to each classroom. Thank you, Truman Pepper!
