Summary

New York's laws on firearms are changing fast. The emergence of the "Red Flag" law, the issues of firearms in orders of protection and the impact on schools, "threat assessments," expiration/renewal of carry/pistol permits under the SAFE Act and other recent laws in New York have created uncertainty among lawyers in the community. A panel of experts from criminal law, school districts and family law will consider the Red Flag Law, other New York gun law changes, the impact on family law cases and orders of protection, criminal justice concerns, mental health/behavioral threat assessment & management, implications for schools, pistol permit applications and renewals, and the pending Supreme Court case involving New York City's gun laws.
