Summary

Copyright demand letters seeking substantial “license fees” for the alleged use of online images are on the rise, with targets ranging from small businesses to large organizations.  Many of these land on the desks of attorneys who do not regularly practice intellectual property law and can present significant potential exposure for clients of all sizes. This CLE will provide a practical overview of the legal basis for these claims and the risks of ignoring a demand.  The program will also offer strategies for counsel to evaluate claims, advise clients on risk, and respond or negotiate a resolution.  MCLE: 1.0 Professional Practice

This CLE is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys.
